Map vs Territory
The map is a simple representation of what we think the landscape looks like, but it is by no means the reality. It could've been drawn at a particular point in time, may no longer represent the truth and may have been created imperfectly
The idea sets out to remind us that we may create 'maps' in our minds of what we perceive and believe the reality/territory to be, but in fact, the reality is outside of our minds
Changing the map we've created doesn't change reality, we must act in the real life - wishful thinking doesn't change the world we have to live in
Action: instead of trying to change the map, adapt to the reality of the territory we live in and face the path we can see and have to deal with
Understanding that maps may not reflect the territory allows us to understand that we may not have all the information or don't know everything
